How I Hydrate at Disney
Posted June 30, 2024
There are lots of ways to get dehydrated on a Disney vacation. It’s easy to do. You are busy living your best park life, walking 25,000 steps, it's probably hot, your delicious Mickey shaped snacks may not be the most hydrating food. It is inconvenient to have to carry a water bottle, stop at every quick service to get a free cup or rack up the expenses by buying bottled water. But it is necessary to make the most of your trip to keep yourself park ready by staying hydrated.
For me, I prefer to carry a water bottle. There are ways to make this more convenient. A variety of hands free ways to carry a water bottle such as belt attachments, sling bags specific for a bottle, many bags now have a water bottle pocket making it easily accessible, and many more. My go to options are either to carry a bag (a sling or backpack) with a water bottle pocket or use a carabiner to attach it to my bag. The second option I mainly use with my loungefly mini backpacks.
My most used water bottle on my trips has been the 17oz Sip by S’well. The insulation on this bottle is amazing and I enjoy a cold drink of water on a hot park day. Usually I put some ice in it from the resort in the morning and it keeps the water cold all day. I grab the free cups from quick service to refill it throughout the day. I like how sleek it is and that it isn’t too big. I have a handle that fits around the neck for easy carrying and to attach a carabiner to my bag if needed.
My only challenge with my trusty S’well is the narrow opening that makes for comfortable drinking is a little tricky with some ice not fitting. Recently I purchased the Owala insulated bottle since it has a wider mouth and although it has kept water cold all day at the pool it hasn’t made a trip to the parks yet, so stay tuned for an update!
I also like having a collapsible water bottle. Although the one I have doesn’t keep water cold, it is very light weight and convenient.
A bonus vessel I often travel with is a Yeti mug. I only bring this for longer journeys, but it is nice to have for the hotel room. I don’t carry it with me to the parks, but I like having something other than a plastic cup or a small glass when hanging out in my room.
I would be remiss if I didn’t at least mention the refillable resort mug included in dining plans at Walt Disney World or for purchase. Although you cannot get sodas in the park with them, you can use them for water. This is a nice option if you don’t want to travel with a water bottle.
Hydration is critical to maintaining optimal condition for park touring and there are lots of options out there to make this more convenient. Let me know what tips you have! Reach out on Instagram or send me an email.
